Local SEO for craftspeople: how to appear first on Google

Google Business profile, client reviews, local keywords — the complete strategy to attract qualified clients.

72% of homeowners look for their tradesperson on Google. If you do not appear in the top 3 local results, you are invisible. Step 1 — Google Business Profile: create and optimise your listing. Photos of recent jobs (minimum 10), full description with trade + town keywords, opening hours, service area. Step 2 — Customer reviews: aim for 30+ reviews with a rating above 4.5. Systematically ask every satisfied client for a review, ideally within 48h of completing the job. Step 3 — Your website: even a simple page is enough, but it must contain: your trade + the towns you cover in the title, before/after photos, and visible contact details. Step 4 — Local directories: register on PagesJaunes, Houzz and Habitatpresto. Each listing creates a backlink that strengthens your Google ranking. Expected result: within 3 to 6 months, you can go from 0 to 10-15 qualified quote requests per month, without spending a euro on advertising.
